How to Throw an Inauguration Party: Celebrating History

Mark those calanders for celebrating January 20th and the 47th US presidential inauguration! Now you can probably already tell that in this corner of the internet, my sympathies lie with a president who backs christian values, freedom, and has a deep love for this country. So with the return of president Donald J Trump I thought I would put together a fun little post to celerate his second term!
Lets take a little travel back in time, shall we? President Donald J Trump was elected president November 2016, ending the 8 years of leadership under president Barack Obama. The country was ready for a change and my now husband and I were ready for a freedom loving party! We stashed up fireworks, went all out on decor, food, and beer. We had a "rager" that our friends still talk about today. Now despite all that, the idea of a inauguration party gets me all nostalgic, because this was the first party we threw together when we started dating all that time ago. The age and stage of life we are in currently would be calling for a modified version of that party, so I have put together a few things we did and would change.

We've talked decor lets talk party food! Again food is another area to keep it simple, especially with kids. If you are having a large group I recommend making it potluck style. You provide the main dish and have your guests bring a side, appetizer, salad or dessert. When you think patriotic food, I know burgers typically come to mind, it being January that might not be ideal to be out in the cold barbecuing, if the weather permits I say go for burgers! Have a build your burger bar with toppings and you'll be set! Now if you live in a colder area like we do, I would say any sort of food you can prep in a crockpot the better. I have made bbq pulled pork or chicken sandwiches or even chili at previous parties. Opting for a crockpot meal takes so much off my plate day of the party because I can get it prepped ahead of time. Now if you are looking for a crowd pleasing appetizer, I will have to reccomend you try making this Bald Eagle Cheese Ball, not only does it look delicious, it is the perfect appetizer to welcome your guests in to the party. Save the recipe for your Inauguration Party of 4th of July BBQ!

We have covered decor and food, but lets not forget games and activites. These crafts, activities and game suggestions are all geared towards toddler - early elemenatry school; however, they can be enjoyed by all ages.
